Major Moscow's Assaults Cut Electricity Across Ukraine's Capital

Power facilities under attack in Ukraine
Ukraine's energy systems have come under escalating strikes in the past few days

Overnight, Russian missile and drone strikes have led to power cuts in extensive areas of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.

A number of civilians were hurt while inhabitants in eastern districts were left without electricity and faced disruption to water systems, as stated by city officials.

Meanwhile, a young boy was fatally injured in a different aerial attack in the Zaporizhzhia region in the country's south-east, according to area administrators.

Russian forces has escalated assaults on energy facilities over recent weeks, while officials has requested "substantial measures" from partner nations to exert influence on Moscow.

"The necessity is not superficial actions but firm measures - from the US, Europe and the G7 - in delivering protection systems and enforcing penalties," was stated in a social media post.

Authorities reported that 450 drones and several dozen projectiles targeted Ukraine's energy infrastructure, characterizing such attacks as "strategic and deliberate" and against "essential services" as temperatures become colder.

The energy minister said Moscow was "inflicting a massive strike" and repair crews were striving to fix the damage.

A wave of strikes hit energy infrastructure and residential structures in the capital.

Multiple people wounded in the assaults on the city have been taken to hospital, as confirmed by local officials.

Regional authorities said the urban area endured significant strikes throughout the evening. A minor lost their life and three other people were injured.

The strikes come after evenings of bombing campaigns in the region, sections of which remain under the control of invading troops.

The entire country is under warning for advanced weapon attacks, which are more difficult to detect.

National leaders told reporters that Russia was intentionally trying to demolish the electrical infrastructure, with assaults already impacting energy systems.

Authorities confirmed energy workers and government agencies were preparing for additional strikes.
